Championing Mental Health Integration: Dr. Kafayat Oluwole at APC Health Convention

Dr. (Mrs.) Kafayat Oluwole, wife of Hon. (Cpt.) Oyeleke Folajuwon Oluwole (Rtd), Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Ogun State on Security, and a US-trained Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, participated in the APC Medical Council National Health Convention and Roundtable 1.0, where she engaged key stakeholders on advancing mental health integration in Nigeria.

On the sidelines of the convention, she had a brief but insightful interaction with Dr. Oluwatomi Coker, Honourable Commissioner for Health, Ogun State. Their exchange touched on the importance of strengthening mental health integration within the state’s healthcare system, particularly in hospital-based and maternal care settings. The discussion reflected a shared commitment toward improving holistic healthcare delivery across Ogun State.

Dr. Oluwole also met with Zainab Kwaru Muhammed Idris, President of the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN), to explore collaborative opportunities to advance mental health advocacy and integration within women-focused healthcare services nationwide.In addition, she engaged Dr. Kemi Ogunwusi, Founder of ConnectDCare Family Practice USA, in a cordial professional discussion centered on shared healthcare interests and potential areas of collaboration.Through these engagements,
